DISGUISE
I have selected 'Disguise' as my theme to create my final piece. I have picked this theme because it has a wide range of experiments within itself. It would be really exciting to try out different things. I have looked at Ralph Eugene Meatyard's work as a lot of his work contains forms of disguise. Most of his images carry a rather eerie vibe. I am now aware of what disguise really means and have good ideas about what to do.
My interpretation of disguise would be really wild and crazy with a lot of imagination. I have a pinterest to which I will be adding various different disguise images to. I have already experimented by taking some images myself (which is also on the site.) Disguise is a great theme as it makes you question and wonder everything. This also gives us a lot of experience and confidence with projects.

These are my first attempts of disguise. They are quite basic and are the general stereotyped form of disguise. The different masks and accessories worked quite well together to create a really strange and scary looking image. The generic background lets us focus on the person and makes the model stand out more. The image with the hand is really spooky yet exciting. It's not something you'd usually see. I could have done better by thinking about the composition a bit more and directing the model. Also, the clothing worn sort of ruins the photo as the different colours kind of clash and instead of an eeire vibe, it seems quite lively in some ways which wasn't my aim. My favourite image is the fourth one- I really like the two masks together as it gives off loads of extra emotions but we will never know how she's actually feeling under the mask. I think the image would be a lot more effective if the wall was black and if the model was wearing a black t-shirt.

Artist Research
These are my second set of experiments. The shadows in some of the images make the image really powerful and give off a mysterious and sinister sort of vibe. The big black coat with the masks work really well as it makes the photo more tense and and harsh. To get the shadow's in some of the images, I turned the light off and used flash. I had to attempt this several time as the flash wouldn't work or the image was blurred. I think I have hugely improved from my first set of experiments. My two favourite images are definitely the first image and eighth image- the first one is really well composed as the position of the model is really well structured and it vaguely shows that they have power and is almost saying 'don't mess with me' I think the white background also really adds a kind of BOOM. The shadow pretty much makes the whole photo as it makes the image really desolate and just adds a whole fierce factor to it. The eighth image has a really alarming vibe to it. It has really basic composition but goes well with the mood the image is trying to set. Despite them wearing building suits, you could interpret the models as serial killers who are just protecting their identity- hence the mask and full body suits. This image comes with a lot of questions- why are they wearing builder suits? Why are they wearing masks? What are they doing? Why do they look so serious? I think the shadows, again, make this image as it just adds a whole grotesque mood to it. The fact that there are two people in this image make it more intense as you're wondering what the both of them could be up to.
These images didn't go particularly well. My original aim was to have everything in the scene blue and I was supposed to be camouflaged into it all yet there wasn't enough blue paint on my face to be fully covered. The background looks really badly prepared and it all just looks really unorganised. I think it would have turned out really well if I spent more time on it and carefully considered what I needed to do. I am going to attempt to do this again with more time and thought.

The character in these images is supposed to represent the devil. We can see the turpitude on the individuals face which makes it easier to gather that the person isn't of a good nature. Also, the colour red indicates that this is the devil. The first image carries a sort of creepy cool vibe to it as she's pulling a really eccentric face. The middle one seems like the devil is dying which is rather ironic as the devil is presented as a secure and everlasting figure. I think it being blurred adds a sort of crime kind of touch to it.

These three images are really abstract but cool. In the first image, I took a photo of a baby doll's face and my friend's head. Then I cut out the face of the baby and stuck it onto Megan's head. I then decided to turn it into quite a spooky photo by creating scratch marks with a pen and my nails. I finally decided to use the app Flare to edit the image to add a more haunting effect. The second image is really simple but effective. I printed out two images of a baby doll's head and cut the different features and stuck them all over the place. I used Flare, again, to add quite a mysterious effect. The third image didn't work out too well. I attempted to take a long shot of somebody and add a life sized skeleton on top of it however you can't really see that there is somebody below the skeleton. I think I should have used photoshop rather than sticking the skeleton image on top of the image of the real body.

Final Evaluation
This project had it's ups and downs. At some point, I lost interest in it as I just couldn't think of what to do and artist research wasn't really helping.
