Final Evaluation: Unit 1 At first, the topic abstraction seemed to be extremely boring as I wasn't aware of all of the elements used in it. I wasn't too adventurous in the beginning due to lack of confidence, however, as the project went by, I found it a lot more exciting and seemed to have quite good ideas and composition for images. I done a lot of artist research when I first started this project which led me to some creative things.. Soon I started experimenting and refining my images. To improve these images, I used different apps such as photoshop or flare to edit my images and make them more un-natural. With various different images, I made them black and white to add a more morbid effect. The formal elements I worked with were light and line- I chose these particular elements as I visualised the kind of effect it could have on my images and decided it would give more of a background to the image. Soon after, we started mobile photography where I thought my images weren't amazing at first so I needed to improve them much more. To improve I used better composition and lines. I think the lighting has come out quite well in most of these pictures. The pictures I took generally create quite a happy mood because there are bright colours used. On the first picture I took, my shadow is blocking the image I took so next time I was more aware of where I stood. After this, I took more time taking the images so everything was captured well and fully and made sure only what I'm taking the picture of was in the image. I also made sure my photo were straight, not wonky as I noticed that they had a slight tilt in them. At first, I thought my photos were quite dull and boring but throughout the project, I experimented more thoroughly and imaginatively. The process of the project Contrast was thoroughly enjoyable, yet stressful at times. On some occasions, I didn't quite know how to produce what I wanted to, so spent a lot of time doing artist research and looking at various different images which were striking enough to me and inspired me. This resulted in me being adventurous and trying out things I most probably wouldn't have. At the start of this project, I wasn't really confident with taking images in public, or at all in fact, but throughout, I did gain more and more confidence as I felt more comfortable with photographing. and enjoyed it more too. I found that the more you enjoy taking photos, the more confident you are with taking photos and producing higher quality images. To improve the whole project, I would have experimented with more techniques and equipment rather than just using phones and dslr's. One of my final pieces, which admittedly didn't go how I anticipated although wasn't ridiculously bad for a first ever video. The whole plot kind of got lost as I was filming so it doesn't really make much sense which I suppose is the whole point of absurd however will make sense to those who really want to see. Throughout the process, I realised that my idea of absurd was really different to other people's and many artists I looked at weren't really appealing to me so I came up with this idea alone which is why I found it hard to produce it as I had no actual work to refer back to and sort of link with.. I felt Pinterest did play a big part into my understanding of Absurd and there were many great images there which I enjoyed and had ideas inspired by but never got round to doing them.. Other than absurd, I was looking into the theme of it being ethereal and really natural seeming. As this was the first time I experimented with film, I learned many different things such as how to use iMovie, and uploading to Vimeo in order to get the film onto this site. iMovie was really simple to work with and seemingly easy for someone who had never used it before. As another individual viewing this film, I would question what the meaning of the film was, which honestly I don't quite know myself; which is how I like it. I used a DSLR to video this which was simple
